An opportunity for people with Type 2 Diabetes to ask those burning questions on their daily management

Diabetes Ireland is hosting a free, interactive Type 2 Diabetes Patient Education meeting in the Breaffy House Resort Castlebar on Wednesday, 13th February 2019 from 7:00pm – 09:00pm.

“The roundtable format of this meeting makes it a very engaging opportunity for people with diabetes to converse directly with the healthcare professional and ask those burning questions in an informal setting outside of the hospital said Ms. Pauline Dunne, Diabetes Ireland.”

Present on the night will be Dr Elizabeth Brosnan Consultant Endocrinologist from Mayo University Hospital, Acting Community Diabetes Dietitian Ms. Dearbhla O’Hanlon, Community Diabetes Nurse Specialist Ms. Corena Campbell and Senior Podiatrist Mr. Conor Cahill. The topics addressed will range from the overall management of diabetes, dietary guidelines and looking after your feet.

As more and more people are being diagnosed with diabetes every year, the HSE are overwhelmed with the number of patients seeking treatment. Diabetes needs to be managed on day to day basis and without these key information tools, this is not easy. This free informative meeting will allow people living with type 2 diabetes to speak with subject experts in a friendly and informative setting at no cost to them.

Each speaker will present a five minute introduction on their subject topic and all the attendees will be divided up into small groups. Our experts will move freely from table to table and will allow for a 15 minute Q&A session. This relaxed approach will allow for easy conversation and provides the attendees an opportunity to raise any questions that they have about diabetes and learn from others.

We look forward to seeing a large audience on the night. For more information on living with type 2 diabetes, events calendar, membership and the work of Diabetes Ireland see www.diabetes.i.e
