Ireland West Airport announces Diabetes Ireland as Charity Partner for 2023

We are delighted with the news that Ireland West Airport Knock announced Diabetes Ireland as one of their Charity Partners for 2023, alongside Breakthrough Cancer Research, The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, The Children’s Cancer Fund, The Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and the Mayo Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The programme allows airport staff to vote for local and national charities that are close to their hearts and would like to support.

Launching the charities of the year programme for 2023, Joe Gilmore, Managing Director, Ireland West Airport said “Last year the airport was delighted to re-launch our charities of the year programme and were thrilled to raise a record €42,500 for our three charity partners, Childhood Cancer Ireland, Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust and The Sensational Kids Charity and in turn supporting the fantastic work that these charities all undertake, which really does make such a difference to the people that they support in our community. I am very proud of the continued support and commitment of our own staff in raising significant money for their nominated charities every year and we look forward to another successful year working with our six new charities in 2023’.

This year, the airport is extending its charity partners from three to six, in recognition of the work Irish charities do locally and nationally. Several events will take place during the course of 2023 which will engage passengers, staff and local people with the aim of raising money for Diabetes Ireland and the other charity partners.

The Ireland West Airport Staff Charity programme has raised almost €200,000 for charities in Ireland. We couldn’t be happier to be a part of this fantastic programme, alongside the five other chosen charities.

The main fundraising event for 2023 will once again be the annual ‘5k Runway Fun Run’ which will take place on the runway at Ireland West Airport in September. We hope to see you and your family there to partake in what is always a lovely family event at the airport.
