DONEGAL- Dungloe-Type 2 Diabetes Education (CODE)

freeCODE is Diabetes Ireland’s group education programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes or diagnosed Pre-diabetes. CODE aims to deliver general information about diabetes self-management in a local community group setting. CODE allows people with diabetes to talk in a supportive atmosphere about their own diabetes. Time is allocated during the programme for problem solving, feedback on diabetes self management behaviours and goal setting.
The programme is facilitated by Frances Murphy, Diabetes Nurse Specialist and consists of 4 sessions of 2 hour duration. The first 3 sessions take place over 3 consecutive weeks @ Chamber Room at Dungloe Public Service Centre
Week 1: Thursday May 11th 2017, time 2pm -4.30pm
Week 2: Thursday May 18th 2017, time 2pm-4pm
Week 3: Wednesday May 24th 2017, 2pm-4pm
Week 4: Review Session is Four months later
CODE is free of charge.
Topics covered in CODE include diabetes explained, risk factors, signs and symptoms, healthy eating, physical activity, personal goal setting, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting. Our flexible approach allows the sessions to be tailored to meet the self identified needs of each group.
