“What’s My Future with Type 1 Diabetes?”
This meeting will focus on ‘What’s my future with type 1 Diabetes?‘ and will benefit people with type 1 diabetes, especially children, teenagers, young adults, their families, carers and friends.
Venue:Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny, Co Donegal
Time and date:Sunday, 8th February, 2015 @ 2.30pm-5pm
At the meeting Dr Neylon, Paediatric Consultant Endocrinologist in Sligo Regional Hospital will discuss ’Technologies and research in Type 1 diabetes’ and how these will impact on current and future management of the condition.
Other guest speakers include Paediatric Diabetes Nurse Specialist Ms Avril McCloskey and Dietician Ms Fiona Hegarty who will speak about how best to manage diabetes on a day to day basis. They will talk about the importance of sick day management and carbohydrate counting.
In addition, we will highlight available local support networks such as Diabetes Ireland and the diabetes team in the hospital and the community so that people with diabetes know where to access help locally.
The purpose of our meeting is to provide support, information and motivation to all families living with diabetes in a supportive environment. The meeting is also a great opportunity for you to meet others living in your area with diabetes. A great deal of support can be obtained from speaking with others. Living with diabetes is not easy, however with the right information and support there is no reason why people diabetes cannot live life to the full.
Admission is free and you are welcome to bring your family members. If you need further information about the meeting, please contact Regina in Diabetes Ireland on 071 914 6001 or email [email protected].
