Did you know?

• 61% of people living with Intellectual Disabilities are at risk of Pre-Diabetes or Type 2 diabetes
• 16% of people with Intellectual Disabilities aged over 40 are already living with Type 2 diabetes

With this in mind Diabetes Ireland have developed a programme to provide training to the carers of those living with Intellectual Disabilities. Our healthcare professionals, Sinead Hanley and Pauline Dunne, will be visiting organisations across the country  to deliver a practical interactive awareness session to carers of people with Intellectual Disability. These training sessions aim to provide carers with the skills to help prevent Type 2 diabetes and manage those already living with the condition.
