Diabetes Technology Network Information Meeting Dublin

Let’s talk about “Navigating and Interpreting diabetes technology data and Technology Burnout”

Diabetes Technology Network Ireland (DTN IRL), in collaboration with Diabetes Ireland, is hosting a meeting in the Carlton Airport Hotel on Tuesday, 11 November, from 6.45 pm to discuss the important issues of understanding your diabetes technology data and dealing with technology burnout.

Over the past 12 months, Diabetes Technology Network Ireland (DTN IRL), in collaboration with Diabetes Ireland, has hosted many meetings around the country to empower attendees to make informed decisions about diabetes technology in collaboration with their diabetes care team, choosing options that best meet clinical needs and lifestyle preferences. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the benefits of diabetes technology, explore how these tools can help manage diabetes more effectively, and discover the range of technologies currently available in Ireland.

Now, we need to delve deeper so we can maximise the data to enhance daily diabetes management and be aware of the mental fatigue the technology can cause if we allow it.

Navigating and Interpreting Diabetes Technology Data:

Diabetes technology provides a lot of information, but it’s not always easy to know what it all means and accurately interpret the data to more effectively manage your diabetes. Dr Hannah Forde, Consultant Endocrinologist, Beaumont Hospital,l will share her expertise on this important issue to help you understand your data, spot useful patterns, and learn how to use the information from your pump, smart pen, or CGM to manage your diabetes more confidently and effectively.

Diabetes Technology Burnout:

With more and more people accessing diabetes technology, a growing area of focus in diabetes care is technology burnout — the emotional and mental fatigue that can arise from continuous monitoring, alerts, and data interpretation. While diabetes technology offers life-changing benefits, it can also feel overwhelming at times.

Understanding how to recognise and manage technology burnout is essential to maintaining motivation, confidence, and overall well-being while using these tools long-term. We are delighted to have Ms Jules Thompson, Senior Clinical Psychologist, CHI Crumlin, speak on this very important issue.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet many of the companies providing the technology on the night. This meeting is designed for people living with Type 1 diabetes, as well as parents and carers of children with Type 1 diabetes. We hope to see you there.
