Diabetes Ireland hosting its first patient education webinar Resilience Tips for Managing during COVID 19

Diabetes Ireland is hosting its first ever patient education webinar on Thursday 20 August at 7.00pm

We are delighted to have Dr Austin Bayley, Senior Clinical Psychologist, Mater Hospital as our first guest presenter. The webinar will explore ways of managing stress and coping effectively during COVID-19 as a person with diabetes. The presentation will examine how we can influence our thoughts, body, and action to manage stress and our mood as well as possible. Dr Bayley will discuss ideas from resilience training, cognitive behaviour therapy, and positive psychology. It is hoped that you will feel more empowered to make positive changes to manage the additional stressors associated with COVID-19.

This is the first of a series of 3 webinars we plan to host over the next few weeks to provide people with practical information around the challenges of living with diabetes at this time. With the recent increase in the numbers of people testing positive for COVID 19, it is important that we all continue to follow government advice. See https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/diabetes-and-coronavirus.html.

For this series of 3 patient education webinars, Diabetes Ireland is being supported by Novo Nordisk who will host the webinars on its meeting platform. To register for this webinar, please click here

This is a new direction for us but a necessary one in the current climate and I hope that people will avail of this free event said Kieran O’Leary, CEO, Diabetes Ireland.
