50 Year Medal Ceremony- Sligo

On Monday the 11th of March in the Glasshouse Hotel, Sligo, Diabetes Ireland were delighted to hold a 50 Year Medal Ceremony.  to four amazing people. They have been living with Type 1 diabetes for over 50 years.

 

This was a lovely evening, celebrating with the medal recipients and their families. The wonderful nurses of Sligo University Hospital also attended the event. They have treated all of the medal recipients on their diabetes journey. They were also joined by members of the Sligo branch of Diabetes Ireland.

CEO of Diabetes Ireland, Kieran O’Leary, travelled to Sligo to lead the presentations on the night. A snapshot of each persons journey was read out at the event, which made the whole evening even more enjoyable.

 

After the presentation, stories of the highs and lows of living with diabetes and how the treatment has evolved in the last 50 years was discussed over light refreshments.

 

A massive congratulations to all the medal recipients and thank you to everyone who attended on the night.
