SUMMARY:MAYO Type 2 & Pre-diabetes Education Course (CODE)
DESCRIPTION:Structured education course for Type 2 & Pre-diabetes \nCODE is Diabetes Ireland’s  group education programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes or diagnosed Pre-diabetes.  CODE aims to deliver general information about diabetes self-management in a local community group setting. CODE allows people with diabetes to talk in a supportive atmosphere about their own diabetes. Time is allocated during the programme for problem solving\, feedback on diabetes self management behaviours and goal setting. \nThe programme is facilitated by Ms. Clair Naughton\, Diabetes Nurse Specialist  and consists of 4 sessions of 2 hour duration. The first 3 sessions take place over 3 consecutive weeks at the Mayo Abbey Training Centre\, Mayo Abbey\, Co Mayo \nWeek 1:     Wednesday 20th November from 10:30am – 1pm \nWeek 2:    Wednesday 27th  November from 10:30am – 12:30pm \nWeek 3:    Wednesday 4th December from  10:30am – 12:30pm \nWeek 4:  Wednesday 13th May 2020 from 10:30am – 12:30pm \nYou are asked to attend all four sessions to get maximum benefit from the course. \nCODE is free of charge. \nTopics covered in CODE include diabetes explained\, risk factors\, signs and symptoms\, healthy eating\, physical activity\, personal goal setting\, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting.
