SUMMARY:DUNGLOE – Type 2 Diabetes & Pre Diabetes Education Course
DESCRIPTION:  \nStructured education course for Prediabetes & Type 2\nCODE is Diabetes Ireland’s  group education programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes or diagnosed Pre-diabetes.  CODE aims to deliver general information about diabetes self-management in a local community group setting. CODE allows people with diabetes to talk in a supportive atmosphere about their own diabetes. Time is allocated during the programme for problem solving\, feedback on diabetes self management behaviours and goal setting. \nThe programme is facilitated by Ms.Frances Murphy\, Diabetes Nurse Specialist  and consists of 4 sessions of 2 hour duration.  The first 3 sessions take place over 3 consecutive weeks in Dungloe Community Hospital \n  \nWeek 1:           Thursday August 16th from 7 pm to 9.30pm \nWeek 2:          Thursday August 23rd  from 7 pm to 9 pm \nWeek 3:          Thursday August 30th from 9 pm to 9 pm \nWeek 4 :         To be confirmed (Notification by letter) \nCODE is free of charge. \nTopics covered in CODE include diabetes explained\, risk factors\, signs and symptoms\, healthy eating\, physical activity\, personal goal setting\, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting. Our flexible approach allows the sessions to be tailored to meet the self identified needs of each group. \nPre-booking is essential and all 4 sessions need attendance \nTelephone 071 914 6001

SUMMARY:National Diabetes Junior Cup 2018
DESCRIPTION:After the success of our 2016 National Diabetes Cup we are delighted to announce it is coming back for 2018. \nThe 5-a-side soccer tournament will take place on Saturday 25th August and we want you to be part of it. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and play soccer with other children who are also living with type 1 diabetes. \nThe format of the day will see a 5-a-side tournament taking place for children with diabetes between 4 and 15 years of age. Teams will be comprised of both boys and girls.
