SUMMARY:TRIM\, Meath- Type 2 Diabetes Education (CODE)
DESCRIPTION:Prediabetes & Type 2 Diabetes Education Course in Trim\, Co Meath\n Education is the Answer\nAs more and more people are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes\, all hospitals and GP practices are struggling to cope with the number of patients seeking treatment. Lifestyle factors and excess weight are strongly linked with the rise of Type 2 diabetes globally but you can also be slim\, fit and develop Type 2 diabetes\, typically after 40 years of age. \n“Most people are not aware of the risks and are surprised and upset when diagnosed with prediabetes or Type 2. They then face a challenge to learn about the condition. Education is vital and we urge Meath locals to engage with us and learn how to manage or avoid this condition” comments Sinead Powell\, Dietitian\, with Diabetes Ireland. \nDiabetes Ireland has developed a structured diabetes education programme and are running a course in Trim starting Tuesday 25th April. This is a free course for patients diagnosed with Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes. There are 4 sessions\, each 2 hours long – \nThis event is now fully booked  \nReview Session: 4 months later – 15th August \nCODE is free of charge. \nTopics covered in CODE include diabetes explained\, risk factors\, signs and symptoms\, healthy eating\, physical activity\, personal goal setting\, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting. Our flexible approach allows the sessions to be tailored to meet the self identified needs of each group. \n Pre-booking is essential and all 4 sessions need attendance \nemail info@diabetes.ie
