DESCRIPTION:Diabetes Ireland will host a public education meeting on ‘Managing my Type 2 Diabetes Effectively’ on Sunday 21st of February from 2.30-5pm in the Mount Errigal Hotel\, Letterkenny. \nSpeakers: \n“The Type 2 Medications Basket – Understanding the role of the medications I take”\nDr Amjed Khamis\, Consultant Endocrinologist\, Letterkenny General Hospital \n“Carbohydrates and controlling my blood glucose – What do I need to know?”\nFiona Hegarty\, Senior Dietitian (Diabetes)\, Letterkenny General Hospital \n“Avoiding Diabetes Related Foot Ulcers”\nMs. Sue Rowlands\, Podiatrist HSE West \nThis meeting will allow people with Type 2 diabetes access to expert medical advice in a pleasant\, supportive environment at no cost to them.  On the night we will also highlight available local support networks such as Diabetes Ireland and the diabetes team in the hospital and the community so that people with diabetes know where to access help locally (Donegal branch of Diabetes Ireland). A great deal of support can also be obtained from speaking with other people who are also living with Diabetes. \nThis meeting is free to attend and all are welcome.
