DESCRIPTION:The family of the late Pauline Cooney will be holding their annual Golf Classic on Saturday the 23rd of March. The Classic will take place in the East Clare Golf Club\, Bodyke\, Co. Clare. All the funds raised from the event will go to the Clare Branch of Diabetes Ireland. \n  \nPauline\, who was from Shannon\, Co. Clare\, passed away on the 17th of March 2014 due to complications of having lived with diabetes for decades. The event is in its fourth year and is organised by members of Pauline’s family to honor her memory. The event also helps to raise much needed funds for the work that Diabetes Ireland do. \n  \nThe Cooney family are looking for people who want to team up to play the 18 holes in East Clare Golf Club. They would love for businesses to sponsor a tee box or a prize for the winning team. The family would also appreciate donations in the Cooney family to the Clare Branch of Diabetes Ireland through the Diabetes Ireland website: www.diabetes.ie/fundraise-for-us/donate/ \n  \nPauline’s husband Gerry has Type 2 diabetes and has been a member of the Clare Diabetes Support group for many years. CODE allows people with diabetes to talk in a supportive atmosphere about their own diabetes. Time is allocated during the programme for problem solving\, feedback on diabetes self management behaviours and goal setting. \nThe programme is facilitated by Ms Clair Naughton\, Diabetes Nurse Specialist for Diabetes Ireland and consists of 4 sessions of 2 hour duration.  The first 3 sessions take place over 3 consecutive weeks St.Josephs Resource Centre\, Abbeytown road\, Boyle\, Co. Roscommon \nWeek 1:  Tuesday March 12th   from  2 pm to 4.30 pm \nWeek 2: Tuesday March 19th   from 2 pm to 4 pm \nWeek 3: Tuesday March 26th from 2 pm to 4 pm \nReview Session: To be confirmed \nCODE is free of charge. \nTopics covered in CODE include diabetes explained\, risk factors\, signs and symptoms\, healthy eating\, physical activity\, personal goal setting\, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting. DESCRIPTION:Help us improve Type 2 Diabetes Services\n  \nOn Tuesday the 19th of February\, we will be hosting a focus group for people living with Type 2 diabetes. The group is also open to those who are caring for someone living with Type 2 diabetes. \nThe session will involve a general conversation between participants about your day to day life with diabetes\, the support you receive and how we can help improve services to further help people living with diabetes. \nThe focus group will be held in the Diabetes Ireland Care Centre based in Santry\, Dublin from 10:30am- 12:30pm. All participants will receive a €50 gift voucher for our Care Centre services.
