SUMMARY:National Diabetes Junior Cup 2018
DESCRIPTION:After the success of our 2016 National Diabetes Cup we are delighted to announce it is coming back for 2018. \nThe 5-a-side soccer tournament will take place on Saturday 25th August and we want you to be part of it. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and play soccer with other children who are also living with type 1 diabetes. \nThe format of the day will see a 5-a-side tournament taking place for children with diabetes between 4 and 15 years of age. Teams will be comprised of both boys and girls. SUMMARY:BIRR - Type 2 &  Pre-diabetes  Education Course (CODE)
DESCRIPTION:Week 4 \nThis course is now full. \nCODE is Diabetes Ireland’s  group education programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes or diagnosed Pre-diabetes.  CODE aims to deliver general information about diabetes self-management in a local community group setting. CODE allows people with diabetes to talk in a supportive atmosphere about their own diabetes. Time is allocated during the programme for problem solving\, feedback on diabetes self management behaviours and goal setting. \nThe programme is facilitated by  Regional Development Officer and Dietitian\, Ms. Pauline Dunne and consists of 4 sessions of 2 hour duration  The first 3 sessions take place over 3 consecutive weeks \nThis event is now fully booked  \nFinal Review Meeting \nThis review session takes place six months after the start date. \nCODE is free of charge. \nTopics covered in CODE include diabetes explained\, risk factors\, signs and symptoms\, healthy eating\, physical activity\, personal goal setting\, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting. DESCRIPTION:  \n“Dealing with the Medical and Psychology Aspects of Type 1 Diabetes”\nDiabetes Ireland are hosting a  free information meeting is taking place in the Castletroy Park Hotel\, Limerick on Tuesday\, 27th November 2018 from 7:30 – 9:30 pm. \nKey speakers Dr Mark Davies\, Clinical Psychologist from Belfast City Hospital and Dr Eoin Noctor\, Consultant Endocrinologist from University Hospital Limerick will address the medical and psychology aspects of Type 1 Diabetes.  The focus of this meeting is to give the opportunity to provide the information tools to further understand the psychological issues associated with type 1 diabetes and put the learning into practice. \nThis meeting will allow people living with type 1 diabetes access to expert medical advice in a pleasant\, non-demanding environment at no cost to them. Are you from Dublin South & South West\, Kildare West\, or Wicklow? \n  \nDiabetes Ireland is delighted to offer you this opportunity. We are facilitating this interactive educational session online\, for people living with Type 2 diabetes. \n  \nWhat to Expect\nWe are delighted to have a Diabetes Nurse Specialist and Podiatrist available to answer your questions during this session. \nOnce the healthcare professionals are introduced to the audience – the attendees are divided into 2 smaller groups as this format allows for easy conversation and allows everyone to ask questions – or just to listen.
