SUMMARY:Leixlip: School Diabetes Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:A Diabetes Ireland School Awareness Day will take place in Cholaiste Chiarain Secondary School\, Leixlip on the 14th of April. \nVicky Doyle\, Health Promotion Officer with Diabetes Ireland\, will be completing a series of school visits in the Leinster area in 2016 as part of our new Schools Diabetes Awareness Programme. Vicky\, who herself was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 11 years old\, will talk to students and create awareness around type 1 and type 2 diabetes across the Leinster region. Students and teachers will also learn the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes\, how to handle emergency situations for students with type 1 and receive advice on healthy diet and exercise to help prevent Type 2 diabetes. \nIf your school would like to take part in the Schools Diabetes Awareness Programme\, please call Vicky on 01 842 8118 or email vicky.doyle@diabetes.ie \n*Please not these events are not open to the general public.
