SUMMARY:Finglas: School Diabetes Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:A Diabetes Ireland School Awareness Day will take place in Colaiste Ide of further Education\, Finglas on the 7th of March. \nVicky Doyle\, Health Promotion Officer with Diabetes Ireland\, will be completing a series of school visits in the Leinster area in 2016 as part of our new Schools Diabetes Awareness Programme. Vicky\, who herself was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 11 years old\, will talk to students and create awareness around type 1 and type 2 diabetes across the Leinster region. Students and teachers will also learn the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes\, how to handle emergency situations for students with type 1 and receive advice on healthy diet and exercise to help prevent Type 2 diabetes. \nIf your school would like to take part in the Schools Diabetes Awareness Programme\, please call Vicky on 01 842 8118 or email vicky.doyle@diabetes.ie \n*Please not these events are not open to the general public.

He is Irelands top expert on obesity and especially obesity in children. Professor O’Shea is extremely forthright and passionate in his views on his specialist subject and on exactly how to tackle the impending “obesity epidemic”. \nSupporting speaker:- Pauline Dunne\, Regional Development Office\, Diabetes Ireland\nPauline will talk about the “Sugar Smart “ campaign and interactive web tool. Great information to help you make better choices with food\, every day including information on Diabetes. \nSupporting speaker:- Eamonn Brady\, Pharmacist at Whelehans Pharmacy\nEamonn will give an overview of the use of medicines to control and mange related conditions such as High Blood Pressure\, Diabetes and Weight Loss. \nIn addition to our speakers\, there will be information\, advice and support available from a variety of related disciplines\, such as Retina Screen\, Diabetes Ireland\, Whelehans Nutrition\, Dental Hygiene.
