SUMMARY:Strength In Numbers Conference
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to be apart of an innovative and exciting conference that will take place in NUI Galway\, on the 23rd of June 2016. The Strength in Numbers Conference aims to bring together service providers\, policy makers\, researchers and young adults with type 1 diabetes to share and develop new approaches to diabetes management. \nOrganisers are currently conducting a Health Research Board-funded study to develop an intervention to improve outcomes for young adults with Type 1 Diabetes in Ireland. Sean Dinneen is the Principal Investigator on this multidisciplinary research study. They have conducted a systematic review of interventions in this area and a qualitative study with young adults and service providers and are now using the Behaviour Change Wheel\, a novel method from behavioural science to develop interventions\, to develop our intervention. A really exciting and novel aspect of this research\, is that they have successfully engaged a young adult panel of 18 to 25 year olds (n=8) living with type 1 diabetes\, and members of this panel input to all aspects of the research. \nPROGRAMME DETAILS AND HOW TO REGISTER FOR THIS FREE EVENT ARE AVAILABLE HERE \nJoin the conversation on twitter #T1DSINs2016. Please feel free to forward to diabetes colleagues\, in particular those with a special interest in young adult care. \n*This is not a patient education event but it is open to people with type 1 diabetes who want to contribute to improving diabetes care in the 18-25 year old age group.
