SUMMARY:Clonroche Type 2 & Pre-diabetes Education Course (CODE)
DESCRIPTION:Structured education course for Pre-diabetes & Type 2 \nCODE is Diabetes Ireland’s group education programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes or diagnosed Pre-diabetes.  CODE aims to deliver general information about diabetes self-management in a local community group setting. CODE allows people with diabetes to talk in a supportive atmosphere about their own diabetes. Time is allocated during the programme for problem solving\, feedback on diabetes self-management behaviours and goal setting. \n  \nThe programme is facilitated by Diabetes Ireland\, Regional Development Officer Jenny Dunbar and consists of 4 sessions of 2 hours duration.  The first 3 sessions take place over 3 consecutive weeks. \n  \n  \nFinal Review Meeting \nThis review session takes place six months after the start date. \nCODE is free of charge. \nTopics covered in CODE include diabetes explained\, risk factors\, signs and symptoms\, healthy eating\, physical activity\, personal goal setting\, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting.
