SUMMARY:TUAM – Type 2 Diabetes & Pre Diabetes Education Course
DESCRIPTION:  \nStructured education course for Prediabetes & Type 2\nCODE is Diabetes Ireland’s  group education programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes or diagnosed Pre-diabetes.  CODE aims to deliver general information about diabetes self-management in a local community group setting. CODE allows people with diabetes to talk in a supportive atmosphere about their own diabetes. Time is allocated during the programme for problem solving\, feedback on diabetes self management behaviours and goal setting. \nThe programme is facilitated by Ms.Clair Naughton\, Diabetes Nurse Specialist for Diabetes Ireland and consists of 4 sessions of 2 hour duration.  The first 3 sessions take place over 3 consecutive weeks in Corralea Court Hotel\, Tuam\, Co Galway. \n  \nThis course is now FULL \nWeek 2:          Thursday June 21st  from 2 pm to 4 pm \nWeek 3:          Thursday June 28th from 2 pm to 4 pm \nWeek 4 :         To be confirmed (Notification by letter) \nCODE is free of charge. \nTopics covered in CODE include diabetes explained\, risk factors\, signs and symptoms\, healthy eating\, physical activity\, personal goal setting\, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting. Our flexible approach allows the sessions to be tailored to meet the self identified needs of each group. \nPre-booking is essential and all 4 sessions need attendance \nTelephone 071 914 6001
