SUMMARY:Cavan - Diabetes Education for Type 2
DESCRIPTION:The event is now FULL \nCODE is Diabetes Ireland’s  group education programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes or diagnosed prediabetes.  CODE aims to deliver general information about diabetes self-management in a local community group setting. CODE allows people with diabetes to talk in a supportive atmosphere about their own diabetes. Time is allocated during the programme for problem solving\, feedback on diabetes self management behaviours and goal setting.  \nThe programme is facilitated by Sinead Powell\, Dietitian and consists of 4 sessions of 2 hour duration  The first 3 sessions take place over 3 consecutive weeks \n\nWeek 2:  2nd November\nWeek 3: 9th November  \nReview Session: May 10th 2017 \nThis review session takes place six months after the start date. CODE is free of charge to both the patient and the health care professional. \nTopics covered in CODE include diabetes explained\, risk factors\, signs and symptoms\, healthy eating\, physical activity\, personal goal setting\, complications and the necessity of regular follow up and the importance of optimal diabetes control. The six month session looks at the review of achievements and personal goal setting. Our flexible approach allows the sessions to be tailored to meet the self identified needs of each group.

DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nSit face-to-face with the diabetes experts outside of a hospital setting and learn more about diabetes.  \nDiabetes Ireland is delighted to offer you this opportunity\, supported by lottery funding\, we have gathered four experts from a variety of fields in the area of Type 2 diabetes to answer YOUR questions. \nOn the night\, each speaker will give a 5 minute introduction on their topic. Following this\, you and fellow attendees will be divided into small groups (no more than 12) at a round discussion table. Our experts will move from table to table in rotation for a 15 minute Q&A sessions. This should allow for easy conversation and give you the opportunity to ask them anything you like about your diabetes\, or just listen. \n The experts and their topics are: \n\n“Carbohydrates and how to control blood glucose.
