SUMMARY:Clare - Diabetes - Moving Forward
DESCRIPTION:A free information meeting for Clare people living with diabetes\, their Families\, Carers and Friends. \n  \nLocation: Temple Gate Hotel\, Ennis\, Co. Clare \nDate: Tuesday\, 17th May      Time: 8pm. \n  \nThe evening will focus on current dietary advice\, how to put it into practice and cope mentally with your management strategy. \nThere will be three speakers on the night \n1. Pauline Dunne\, Senior Dietitian with Diabetes Ireland \nSugar continues to be a ‘hot’ topic and the general public have many remaining questions following the recent peak of publicity around sugar. This meeting provides ‘live’ expert advice and it is free to attend.  Pauline will cover current nutrition recommendations for ‘free sugar’ intake\, highlighting sources of sugars people may not be aware of\, which may impact on a person’s diabetes self-management. \n“Our intake of sugar has increased dramatically over the last 10 years and where fizzy drinks and sweet foods are the obvious culprits\, many people are not aware of many other foods which also contain large amounts of ‘free sugars’” said Pauline. \n. \n  \n2. Dr Lisa Hynes\,  Health Psychologist\,  Health Behaviour Change Research Group\,  NUI Galway \nLisa  explores ways to help us put health advice into practice. \n  \n3. Ms. Fiona Treacy\, Health Promotion Officer from the National Diabetic Retina Screening service. \nFiona will provide an update on how the service is progressing in the West of Ireland and how to access it.  \n  \nEveryone is welcome and we look forward to meeting you on the night. There is no need to book in advance. We have booked a large room. The more people there the better for ideas sharing\, support and motivation. \n
