SUMMARY:Kill: School Diabetes Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:A Diabetes Ireland School Awareness Day will take place in Scoil Bhride Kill National School on the 27th of April. \nVicky Doyle\, Health Promotion Officer with Diabetes Ireland\, will be completing a series of school visits in the Leinster area in 2016 as part of our new Schools Diabetes Awareness Programme. Vicky\, who herself was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 11 years old\, will talk to students and create awareness around type 1 and type 2 diabetes across the Leinster region. Students and teachers will also learn the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes\, how to handle emergency situations for students with type 1 and receive advice on healthy diet and exercise to help prevent Type 2 diabetes. \nIf your school would like to take part in the Schools Diabetes Awareness Programme\, please call Vicky on 01 842 8118 or email vicky.doyle@diabetes.ie \n*Please note these events are not open to the general public.

DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to sit face to face with the diabetes experts outside of a hospital setting to learn more about your condition? Diabetes Ireland is delighted to offer you this opportunity. In partnership with Novartis\, we have gathered four experts from a variety of fields in the area of Type 2 diabetes to answer YOUR questions. To do this\, join us in The Connacht Hotel\, Dublin Road\, Galway on Wednesday 27th of April 2016 from 7-9pm. \nOn the night\, each speaker will give a 5 minute introduction on their topic. Following this\, you and fellow attendees will be divided into small groups (no more than 12) at a round discussion table. Our experts will move from table to table in rotation for a 15 minute Q&A sessions.
