People living with Diabetes have a double risk of experiencing Depression. Good management of Diabetes can help ameliorate the complications but changing behaviour around lifestyle is difficult. Prof. Jim Lucey and Dr Jeff Breckon offer an interesting insight into understanding the anxiety of diabetes and  how we approach diabetes.

Dr Jeff Breckon discusses the role of Motivational Interviewing for Health Behaviour Change and provides insight into his team’s trials, research findings on counselling and lifestyle interventions. Jeff, a BPS and HCPC Chartered Psychologist, is Director of the Centre for Health and Social Care Research at Sheffield Hallam University.

Prof. Jim Lucey discusses the higher risk of depression for those living with diabetes. As Medical Director of St Patrick’s Mental Health Services, he has worked with patients suffering from mental health problems such as health anxieties for more than 30 years. He is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Trinity College.
