The work of the Federation

Diabetes affects people from all walks of life – from the very young to the very old and is now considered the fastest growing epidemic by both the World Health Organisation and the United Nations. In Ireland, it is estimated that 191, 000 people have diabetes and this will increase to 233,000 by 2020. More information on diabetes in Ireland here

Living with diabetes is not easy! However, with the right help, advice and support, there is no reason why Irish people with diabetes cannot live life to the full. This is our goal and each year through our patient education and infrmation services we provide that support to thousands of Irish people with diabetes and their families when needed most.

Through the close collaboration of all people concerned with diabetes, whether their interest is tied to their work or living with the condition.
